Birthday Invites...

May 12th, 2010

Finished up Little Bug's Birthday invites last night...

I put one for each classmate into their cubbies this morning... when I went to pick up Walker they were busy shoving/smashing them into their backpacks... I just about came unglued! Who knows how they arrived when they got to their house... at least they started out looking nice.

Hello

May 11th, 2010

Am still here... been super busy the past few weeks... our schedule this week is about to get a wee bit more hectic...

Ainsley got a part in the Missoula Children's theater production King Arthur's Quest. She was super excited... she'll be playing a Camelotian. Her bestest friend Morgan also got a part but is playing a different role so they were a bit sad to learn their practicing times won't coincide.

Church classes for Communion are now over... thankgoodness since her Jazz class has decided to keep them longer to prepare for their up coming recital . First communion went really well... cake and punch always makes for great day..

We survived the whole coaching of the tournament and coached again last weekend... was actually not too bad, we have a really good group of girls that play hard... making it fun.

Ainsley was excited to finally have a chance to play goalie... which seems to be the most coveted position.

Had a great Mother's Day... nothing too exciting but togetherness was all that I wanted for the day.

Been busy planning Walker's Birthday party which is coming up waaay to quickly. We invited he's entire Kindergarten class plus a few extra kiddos! Will be interesting having 30 kids in the backyard. Should be lots of fun though. We also have to squeeze in soccer games and a dance recital that day as well!!

So to say the least... blogging will be sporadic at best the entire month of May.

Busy Weekend...

April 30th, 2010

We will be having a very busy weekend. A soccer tournament tomorrow... not only is Ainsley playing 2 games but we will be coaching both games as well! Yikes!

Sunday Ainsley will be receiving 1st communion. This past week we had a little rehearsal here at home to make sure everything was ready.. She looks like such a big girl and so cute in her outfit.

Will catch up with the weekend festivities next week!

Books

April 28th, 2010

Ainsley is currently loving the Magic Tree House series books... she reads about 2 of these chapter books week.

Right now she is reading this..

Her routine is to get ready for bed and then read 2 chapters each night in her room with her little book light. She then calls for me to come upstairs... tuck her in 1 more time... give more hugs... and then I turn on her music while she puts her book away. Well last night she called me and I went up to do the usual routine. When I got to her room she says, "I just have one page left but it's kind of getting scary... can you sit with me while I finish it?" I sat with her and peeked at the picture on the page..

Yeah I'd be a bit freaked out too.

Report Card Time...

April 26th, 2010

Ainsley came home with her report card on Friday. Here she is opening it...

Realizing what she got...

We are pretty darn proud and she was too...

Saturdays

April 25th, 2010

Right now Saturday mornings are filled with soccer...

and Saturday afternoons are also filled with soccer games...

They both did really well... we still yelled too much because it's just too hard not to... you just get into the game. They both scored goals Walker 3 and Ainsley 1 not that they keep score but it's a good confidence booster... to keep them running even though they are tired. Soccer is still all about what kind of snack is at the end of the game.

Our 2 red faced cuties...

Making Progress...

April 22nd, 2010

So she's probably the only 8 year old who doesn't know how to ride a bike. That being said we've been working on this whole bike riding thing for quite some time. Last year when she fell and scarred up her knee she was just not ready to do it anymore. This fall I took her over to the parking lot and had her go over all the important skills... she'd had it... didn't want me to "help" anymore... she wanted to do it on her own... even if that meant starting off with her foot on the brake... which by the way left us both frustrated!

Today I read something on a blog where they had their child learn to ride in their backyard... I thought it was worth a try... if nothing else she'd have a somewhat soft landing. I got her all outside ready to try and she did NOT want me to coach her... frustrating! She did let Daddy talk to her and she listened about what to do etc.

First try going over the whole process...

For 20 minutes she pedaled a foot at a time with Daddy holding on... finally Daddy let go... stopped and she made it to the end of the yard! She continued to do that a few more tries before we had to head to Walker's soccer practice.

I think once she gets that "feeling" of how to balance she will finally get it and be off. It helps when you have that determination to want to do something as well and I think she has that now and as gotten a bit of self confidence to get over that first step of being scared.

Hoping it doesn't rain so we can try again tomorrow.

The Volcano...

April 21st, 2010

While the parents did this yesterday...

The kiddos made this... the Volcano...

24 Hours...

April 20th, 2010

I noticed the apricot tree yesterday just starting to bloom...

And today it's a buzzin'...

One more close up comparison...

Saturday

April 19th, 2010

Saturday night we were here... any guesses??

We went to the Monster Truck show! It was one of those crazy things you have to go and see at least once in a lifetime, especially when you have a little boy who loves dirt... anything loud... and big trucks. The event was sold out... 15,000 people were there... crazy! Loud oh my... glad we had ear plugs... not only for the truck noise but for all the screaming kids!!

For 4 hours we smashed cars...

hollered loudly when cars flipped and rolled...

and loved when they soared over huge jumps...

We definitely were entertained watching the monster truck races, the tough truck competition (the people who do that are just... NUTS... they take ordinary trucks/cars and try to get through the monster truck course.) The freestyle was by far the most favorite with little bug and then they also had a demolition derby! We got home just before midnight!

Fun time was had... can you tell?
