We went and saw this yesterday...

Loved it... highly recommend it... will buy it when it comes out later this year.

Just About 3 Years...

September 3rd, 2009

It's hard to believe that it's been almost 3 years since we moved here. Labor Day weekend marks the official 3 year mark. When we moved in Walker couldn't reach the light switches...

And now look how tall he's gotten lately...

Yesterday when I picked up Ainsley from school she was screaming excitedly... she had lost another tooth... at school! She'd been wiggling it for days and through her teacher's prompting she pulled it out. She was the first one to loose a tooth in her class this year... which made awesome bragging rights... ha!

Not much to share today... a few odds and ends over the weekend...

We spend the weekend watching a variety of movies... love the Redbox and the library!  Hotel for Dogs and Wizards of Waverly Place the movie we watched with the kiddos. The rest we watched by ourselves... Race to Witch Mountain and the Narnia Prince Caspian are all PG but just too scary for the kiddos. From the library we also got ...an Idaho documentary... and the Other Boelyn Girl (I just finished the book and wanted to see the movie while it was fresh in my mind).

Tried a new muffin recipe... Apple Pie Muffins... pretty darn tasty.

Kiddos both had homework... Walker was not too thrilled about this homework business, but thankfully finished it without too much fit throwing. Thought I'd share a couple things he had in his backpack Friday... His monster picture... that's him sitting on his monster's arm.

And his lovely bead necklace that he made for his Mommy... it's got to be one of my favorite pieces of jewelry!

Ainsley has her first spelling test this week... 20 words and 2 sentences...

She's just about got it.. keeps getting hung up on "bought" and "scratch".

So yes a low key weekend which was just what we need... this week Soccer season starts and it's going to be crazy busy!

Kindergarten Report...

August 27th, 2009

Walker had a great time at school yesterday... I knew he would. He was sad to learn that "no toys" existed in kindergarten... just block shapes and playdoh... not high on his priority list. They had to write their name on a piece of paper and tell their teacher how they felt on the first day. Walker said he was excited... could you tell by his eyes??

He was really excited to head back to today for all the kids in the class will be there today (yesterday was just 1/2 the class).

I scanned these in yesterday... all of us on our first day of kindergarten... think I'm going to frame them.

Kindergarten

August 26th, 2009

Today was finally the day... Walker was so excited this morning and insisted on wearing his backpack while he ate breakfast. I asked him if he was nervous about anything he says, "Yeah... Math!" He all but ran up to school and we dropped him off at class all smiles and waving.

Here's one of the two kiddos this morning...

The First Day Review...

August 25th, 2009

Ainsley had a great first day back at school... she loves her teacher. She got to use her new watercolors and was excited to learn all about the "prizes" you can earn if you remember to "Not shout out the answers!" Something that she really needs to work on. I asked her who she played with at recess and she said, "No one in particular... I just walked around chatting with friends!"

We're still trying to remember our school schedule... this morning we had 30 extra minutes... it helps that both kiddos get right up when I ask... I'm sure that will change as winter comes.

She skipped off to school today... I'm so happy that she's happy.

2nd Grade...

August 24th, 2009

Ainsley is off to 2nd grade this morning...

She was up and out of bed before me this morning... although I must say I didn't sleep a wink last night... too excited for her I guess. After a bazillion pictures... she looks so grown up, doesn't she?? And after waffles and eggs we took a few more pictures...

Then we headed out the door where we got just about to the crosswalk and remembered her school supplies! Good thing it's just a few steps back to home. Made it to school and this year she enters the school in the front... we noticed everyone was heading inside... parents and all so in we went... found her coat hook and desk and left her smiling..

Taking Walker over for Kindergarten orientation later this morning, he will start on Wednesday.

Yesterday

August 20th, 2009

Yesterday I took the kiddos to the last library storytime of the summer, it was all about watermelons... books... craft and then they got to eat watermelon. Here they announced to the librarian that it was their first taste of watermelon all summer... with puzzled expression at me I had to tell her that I didn't like watermelon... and therefore don't buy it. Poor deprived children. After a few errands we grabbed happy meals and headed to the park for one more summertime park visit.

Later that night it was off to Outer limits to celebrate Ainsley's book reading success... they did the whole thing... jungle gym... dinner and 100 coins or arcade games... smiling and squealing the whole night... fun times.

Think we are ready for school to start Monday, Ainsley's got her entire 1st week of clothes all lined up in her closet. Yesterday we also changed out her earring for the first time... these are her new butterfly earrings.
