Library Lab...

November 13th, 2009

Took the kiddos to the library the other day for "Lab at the Library", this months lab was all about Owls. After they played a few games and got some information about Owls they got to dissect an Owl Pellet! Ainsley was grossed out at first and wanted Walker to do it but once he found a rodent skull she was all into it.

The best part of the whole "experiment" was the information sheet that showed all the bones you might find in your pellet. It was fun to match them up and see what animals they came from. They were really excited that they were able to bring the bones home so that they could show Daddy. We found 2 rodent skulls, a few jaw bones from moles and rodents and lots of ribs and hind legs from both of those animals as well... fun stuff!!

Halloween Recap...

November 11th, 2009

Was proofing pictures today and realized that I didn't blog about the actual Halloween day of events...

Started out at the last ISU girls soccer game of the season. The kiddos wore their costumes for the contest that was held at half time and although they didn't win they got these super cool posters with all signatures of all the girls and an ISU shirt... pretty cool!IMG_7634 [1024x768]

Again Walker's most exciting part of the game... yep you guessed it... the hotdog!

Afterwards we headed downtown to meet up with the Trogden's to do our annual "Downtown Trick or Treating."  They were running a tad behind so kept ourselves amused in the car doing self portrait pictures. This picture cracks me up... check out little Bug's face peeking out...IMG_7031 [1024x768]

With Halloween on a Saturday this year it was CRAZIER than usual... I mean so many people that we were at a stand still most of the time. IMG_7040 [1024x768] With it being on a Saturday most of the downtown businesses were closed... making our 2 hours worth of waiting on the sidewalk a bust... think the kids got maybe 10 pieces of candy. But I did get this cute picture of the kiddos before we headed out...IMG_7037 [1024x768]

Home for pizza before heading out into our neighborhood for trick or treating... this was our first year going around in our own neighborhood even though we've lived here for 4 years!! We've just always been at other functions for Halloween. IMG_7043 [1024x768]

We were having a great time... decided to do one more street when Raquelle tripped and fell... getting a minor head wound... and you know how those things bleed so back to home we all went. But the kiddos had the best time handing out the candy at our house than actually getting the candy!

The best part of Halloween is always sorting and trading your candy stash..

Story Problems...

November 10th, 2009

Ugh... I hate story problems... they always make me second guess myself. Stewart usually helps Ainsley out with her Math Homework but since he was dealing with the "non-eating dinner child" aka Walker I was on my own. This was one off Ainsley's homework tonight.

Together Roma and Grace have 12 beads. Grace has 4 beads.
How many beads does Grace have to buy to have the same as Roma?

I thought it was pretty tricky for 2nd grade!!! So did you get 4 as the answer??

Clouds

November 4th, 2009

On the way home this morning after dropping off the kiddos I noticed the clouds...

I thought it looked like a weather map with a hurricane brewing in the ocean. Crazy huh?

Happy Halloween...

All of this (for craft projects, games and prizes)...

And me like this...IMG_7445

Went to Walker's class for the Halloween Party... was so glad that it went well. So no pictures of the actual classroom party for I was swamped running here and there but at least all my volunteers showed up and helped out, which earlier this week seemed to be a nightmare.

Later in the day Walker and I headed to Ainsley's classroom to help her get dressed and be the helper volunteer at her class room party... he thought it was pretty cool to go with the 2nd graders on the school costume parade.

Today we are still planning on the ISU girls soccer game, downtown trick or treating, pizza and around the neighborhood for trick or treating.

Have a spookish day!

Spooky Houses...

October 29th, 2009

Instead of making Halloween cookies this year the kiddos made Spooky House and decorated them. I doubt they'll get eaten (since they are still sitting here 2 days later) but it was fun thing for them to do this year. I love watching their techniques... Ainsley's all about details she added a headstone and a pumpkin to hers as well as "accessorizing her bat and ghost with necklaces." Walker is all about putting as much frosting/candy on that it will hold. Ha!

Crazy Hair Day...

October 27th, 2009

This week at school, it's red ribbon week (you know say "No to Drugs!") Yesterday was Crazy Hair Day... Ainsley wanted 3 ponytails and then for fun I glued on some buttons. It was funny her friends asked," Does your Mom know that you did that?" No worries it came out super easy and it looked so cute too!

Ainsley had big plans for Walker's hair but he didn't want anything done to his hair. He said, "I like it just normal."

Today was inside out day. Ainsley thought jeans inside out would be too uncomfy so opted to just turn her socks inside out! Walker again was just happy to be "normal."

Halloween Activities...

October 26th, 2009

Last week the kids had their school carnival where they can wear their costumes, play games, eat cotton candy and yummy Texas Road House!

For those of you just tuning in... Walker is a Park Ranger, Glacier to be exact. Ainsley is a Fortune Teller. Then on Saturday the Zoo had their annual Zoo Boo. It was chilly and windy out but the kiddos had fun doing their favorite game... leaf hunt (looking for prizes in the huge pile of leaves).

And bat crafts are always good...

Finally it was time for the costume contest... Walker got 3rd in his age group.

And Ainsley got first in her age group..

She was so excited, kept saying,"I've never won anything before in my entire life!" She also got a free kids meal at Sonic. We've never eaten their before... will be an adventure for all of us.

School Pictures...

October 22nd, 2009

Yesterday Ainsley came home with her school pictures... I pulled them out and said cute smile... good job. Then I looked at them again and something just didn't seem right...

scan0006

She has her vest on UPSIDE DOWN!!! She had forgotten it when they were all lined up for pictures and then remembered last moment and ran to get it. I'm thinking couldn't you tell it didn't fit right?? Guess not. The funny thing is that she wore it home like this that day and I asked her about it and she said that she took it off and just put it on to come home. So yes... picture retakes will be happening. She already mentioned that she wants to wear something else that isn't too complicated! Ha.

Fall..

October 21st, 2009

I was out taking pictures of the leaves that are in the front yard and Walker decided to come out as well. I love these "sneaky" pictures I got of him... so enjoying the moment of fall and leaves.
