Bike riding and stuff...

June 20th, 2008

Goal for this summer is to get Ainsley off of her training wheels... Stewart and I vividly recall the days of our first bike riding experience... no training wheels just a little shove and we were off riding all our own.

The back yard area just isn't big enough to really get the hang of it so we set off to the school parking lot with two goals in mind. One to get Walker pedaling with his feet and second to get Ainsley use to riding in a bigger area . For some reason she had the hardest time just sitting up right... it's so hard teaching someone to sit in the middle of the seat and not lean.

Walker can pedal but he knows he can go faster using his feet... a little Fred Flintstone action going on. But by the end of the time he had finally got how to really pedal... hopefully he'll continue to do this and he can graduate to a big bike.

Yesterday the kiddos made some fairly edible creations on Ainsley's Easy Bake Oven... but the best part of the whole day for them was when I "let" them clean up their baking dishes. So sweet to watch them... and Ainsley with the towel on her shoulder.

Tooth update... still really wobbly!

Wiggly & Wobbly...

June 17th, 2008

Ainsley's tooth is getting very wiggly... it's turned gray now but is still holding onto the gum. She's excited... nervous that it will hurt... and scared that she will see lots of blood! Yes, we can count out surgeon in her future job list.

Of course everyone has to check it out...

Yesterday was Movie Time Monday again and this week was Veggie Tales: The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything... love the adult humor in the show!

The kids thought it was good... they were more excited about getting the "kid snack" at the theater which consisted of a box of popcorn, a candy treat and small pop. They always want to get this so I told them they could use their own money... they were quite proud to buy their own special treat!

One last picture for the day... Walker as Spiderman.

Updated pictures in the Photo Album too!

Father's Day...

Nothing special just hangin' out together... our favorite thing to do.

Baby Korbin...

June 14th, 2008

Yesterday we went out to Alta and Joe's to see new baby Korbin...

img_8171

So sweet and so perfect. Ainsley and Walker were excited all day at the thoughts of seeing baby Korbin. We got to there house and it was... "See ya... were off to play outside with Raquelle!"

They climbed up on the couch for a picture and the conversation went like this...

Walker should we have a baby like this at our house? "Um... No"

Same question asked to Ainsley, her response... shaking head... "I don't think so!"

Needless to say I got spoiled... got to hold baby Korbin the entire time we visited... such a sweet and happy little guy.

Brr... Cold

June 13th, 2008

The past few days have been awfully cold... low 30's at night and maybe a high of 45 during the day!

So needless to say we have been inside... too much! Yesterday the kids were relentless about checking out things outside... jammies and all they headed out to the strawberry patch. We had been watching a few almost ripe berries... waiting for just the right time to pick them. Guess we waited too long... the birds got them! The kids did get one each and then a few very pale looking strawberries. Ainsley thinks that if we "warm" them up inside they will turn red. I'm thinking they will be more like the white fuzzy kind sitting out on the table... a good experiment though.

Here's a cute picture of little bug I got yesterday as well.

Weekend Highlights...

June 9th, 2008

This weekend was the first weekend in a LONG tiime where we had absolutely nothing we had to do. We did lots of train playing...

img_8087

In fact Stewart made the biggest train track ever... this will be filling up the living room for awhile.

img_8141

Ainsley wanted to rearrange her room this weekend... she had all kinds of big plans... first off was to move her desk underneath the window, in her words, "I need to have a better view... all I can look at now is the wall!" So her desk got moved to look like this...

img_8135

and then we moved her bed onto the other wall and toy storage moved to where her bed use to be.

img_8131

It seems to be growing on me... it isn't as open as it use to be but she has more room to be creative. And creative she has been... working all weekend on projects.

Ainsley's New Trick...

June 6th, 2008

Yesterday, Ainsley finally got the hang of tying her shoes! Pictures just don't capture the full effect... plus you've got to love her silliness. So here you go... our first video on the blog... enjoy!

This is a good one...

June 4th, 2008

After Stewart's work today, he and I are chatting at the table... filling each other on the day's events. It seems pretty quiet... a call to Ainsley... she's in her room coloring... a call to Walker... silence... more silence.

I yell, "Answer Me!" another second of silence and then as I'm getting up he yells, "I'm upstairs playing"

Ten minutes later I come across this...

img_8077

So um what's that you ask?...let me zoom in... does that help??

img_8080

Walker decided to "decorate" the living room... glued... GLUED butterflies to the wall... 2 walls to be exact.

Have no idea what his thought process was on this one. While trying to keep a straight face we talked about where we should put glue... on paper... again do we glue on walls... NO... only on paper... He chimes in and not on hats either. At least it was washable and it wasn't say... on the cat!

The Last Few Days...

June 2nd, 2008

The first few days of summer vacation have been spend doing this...

img_7970

and a lot of this...

img_7974

Ate some yummy pie...

img_7983

And got our garden planted...

img_8011

To make things a lot easier this year we decided to get this bad boy...

img_8016

(thank you economic stimulus check!)

The kids each picked out what they wanted to plant, Ainsley's choice was Cantaloupe and Walker's was Watermelon. We also planted corn, beans, carrots, peas, zucchini, tomatoes and a red pepper plant. We also decided to try our luck at herbs (basil, parsley, rosemary) this year in pots on the deck.

Ainsley's soccer finished up for the season on Saturday... so glad... towards the end we all get burnt out!

This summer we decided to do the Kids Summer Movies at the theater...$6.50 for 11 weeks of movies. Such a deal... some we have seen but it's always fun to watch them on the big screen and eat yummy movie popcorn! Tonight starts the first week... Alvin and the Chipmunks!

Ainsley's Last Day...

May 29th, 2008

Ainsley had her last day of Kindergarten yesterday... here are her first and last day pictures.

img_4399 img_7961

She got to meet her first grade teacher at the end of the day... she happens to be a neighbor! She is really excited to attend first grade in the fall... especially since she'll have a desk! She's also excited about going outside in the morning AND afternoon!!

Walker had his 4 year check up yesterday... he's currently 37.5 pounds and 41 1/4 inches tall. Poor kiddo got 5 shots as well yesterday! He's good now until age 11... crazy to even think that far ahead. Looks like little bug and I have allergies so we both got some meds for that... hopefully we'll stop sneezing soon!

Today on our first official day of vacation we are hanging out in our jammies... plan to pick some rhubarb and make a pie but other than that it's just hang out day... love these!
